Logitech Wireless Solar K750 For Mac
The charge should last a few months if not longer depending on how much you use it. Some have said they got close to 6 months or so. I'm curious to know if the rather large 'top' created by the solar cells is much of an impediment at all, does it make it much larger than other keyboards in practise? It seems like they could refine the idea by making solar elements that fit the space over the arrow keys, and where the battery indicator and on/off switch currently go, maybe a thinner strip at the top if it's still not enough. The battery indicator overall seems like a waste of space since the switch could just as easily go on a side, with the indicator somewhere discreet; after all there are only so many things a light on the keyboard could mean! Common complaints seem to be in the quality of the feet on the keyboard, and the lack of a light on the caps lock button.

My only complaint is the keys aren't as nice as the full-size apple keyboard keys. The keys make a thumpy sound opposed too the clicky sound of the apple keyboard. And the whole thing is very plasticky:/ Definetely a value oriented product.
It works right out of the box without the need for any software installation. This keyboard is a smart choice to save the environment while enjoying a comfortable and a productive computing experience.
Works great for pc and Mac This keyboard is the best I've come across. It charges in very-low light. It even has a button to press to check to see if the current lighting is sufficient This keyboard is the best I've come across. It charges in very-low light.
So yes, I believe I will be ordering one of these new K750s for Mac. Brian Young Can the next solar keyboard be an upgrade to the Tablet Keyboard though? It would be fantastic to build solar into the Tablet Keyboard to reduce its thickness and well as extending battery life. Also – for a quick want-list for generation 2 of these solar keyboards for all platforms: 1 – an indicator light for caps-lock and num-lock light off = caps-lock not enabled and num-lock is enabled (reverse of standard) to conserve energy light on = caps-lock enabled and num-lock is disabled 2 – a back-lit option using half a dozen energy efficient LED’s with fiber-optics routed to the keys. This should have a button in an easy spot (up by the power toggle) that turns on the back-light just for a few seconds (again to conserve power). 3 – replace the sticker key labels with fully-baked-in lettering for long-life use.
Just grabbed a Logitech K750 Solar Keyoard for Mac and I thought I'd write a quick review. This is hands down the best wireless keyboard I've come across. The build quality is fantastic and the keys work just as smooth as an Apple wireless keyboard.
Thanks for your time I can’t wait to get my hands on one of these! Phil No bluetooth is a deal breaker for me and a few Mac using friends I’ve shown this to. I’m not sacrificing a USB port for a dongle. I’d gladly take a model that doesn’t last as long in total darkness for one that’s Bluetooth. In fact I’ll take a performance hit for one that’s also backlit. How many charge cycles does this one last, btw? Anyways, no bluetooth = no purchase as I use USB ports for drives and software dongles and RSA keys already.
So I kept trying to figure out if it's the actual mouse or the receiver that was bad so I took both the older and the newer reciever, tired them in a different mac and ran the unifying software. The software couldn't see either of them which leads me to believe that the problem wasn't with the mouse itself.

You can get around the problem by opening Activity Monitor and choosing to quit the Solar App service. You shouldn’t have to use Force Quit, just a normal Quit. However, the next time you restart, it will be back again. I’m sure there’s a way to prevent it from loading (or just completely uninstall, which deleting the app doesn’t accomplish) altogether, but keep in mind, without the service, the status key won’t do anything, and you won’t have a way to determine battery capacity or the amount of available light to charge. Porcupine's Ghost, Great app and all but. As all the other reviews have stated: it hogs your computer tremendously. I even followed the directions to permanently delete all of the application's files but somehow it was still running logs into Console.
And it all works right out of the box. No software installation required. Combining the best of traditional keyboards, laptops and a Logitech-only concave key cap design, you'll enjoy faster, quieter, feel-good typing-hour after hour. The tiny Logitech Unifying receiver is small enough to stay in your Mac so there's no need to unplug it when you move around.
The Good The Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K760 has a sleek and stylish design that complements Apple products. An integrated solar panel can charge the keyboard from any light source (including a lamp), so there's no need to replace batteries. And the K760 can pair with three devices (such as Mac, iPad, iPhone) and switch among them at the touch of a button. The Bad Though it's fairly compact, it's a little bulky to carry around with you and no protective carrying case is provided. The Bottom Line With its built-in solar-powered battery, the sleek Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K760 will save you money in the long run and is a better deal than Apple's Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard. From a design standpoint, the K760 is more compact than the K750 and more closely resembles Apple's own Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard with the addition of the strip of solar cells at the top of the unit.
They are now sending me a Performance Mouse. We'll see how that one goes.

As a software developer, I love having the keypad, page up/down, home/end and full-size cursor keys that Apple decided to take away. I like the solar app that shows the amount of light being taken in as well as the charge level. I wouldn’t be surprised if every keyboard that I ever own from this point on is a solar one. I really like this keyboard.

Joe The keyboard is amazing and I will purchase one of the 2 solid-colored keyboards. However my big gripe about the device has already been brought up by other commenters on this page: Mac users want Bluetooth! Macs are limited in the number of USB ports they have compared to PC’s, and peripherals that don’t require the use of a USB port is highly advantageous.
They’re saving money on batteries while enjoying comfortable typing and a knockout design. Now Mac users can take advantage of the benefits of this eco-friendly keyboard as well – and we’ve even got some exclusive colors for you. The features a standard Mac key layout– so all the buttons are in the right place – and a concave key cap design so you’ll enjoy faster, quieter, feel-good typing.
Eventually, I ended up in Activity Monitor and searched for everything directly related to the solar app and quit the processes. So far it has not given any logs into Console and everything is going much smoother. Delete the files and the processes on Activity Monitor to permanently stop it writing logs and make your computer run faster. Other than that, the keyboard itself is really great. Alienraygun, Spams Console, Updates Neglected As stated in the numerous reviews before this one, this app spams the console with around fifteen messages per second. On the surface the app is great, it tells you in real time if the solar cells are picking up enough light to keep the batery charged with a software light meter and what percentage of your battery is holding a charge.
The little friendly reminder light that is on the caps lock key on Apple keyboards is absent here and I miss it. But besides those two things this keyboard rocks!!! I’d definitely buy it again. Comments are closed. Comment Policy We're glad you're here.
They are now sending me a Performance Mouse. We'll see how that one goes. Ableton 9.7.2 mac crack keygen password. It it dies too, I'm sticking with bluetooth mice from here on in! I was thinking about getting this keyboard as well but I've had some serious issues lately with the unifying receiver. I got a Logitech G700 gaming mouse about 2 months ago and it worked fine for about 4 weeks and then it died on me. Logitech then sent me another and that one lasted for only 2 weeks.

No use of the function keys without pressing the fn key as a modifierbig pain! But it can be worked with (but not totally fixed), by using third party software like Sparks or HotApp. The little friendly reminder light that is on the caps lock key on Apple keyboards is absent here and I miss it. But besides those two things this keyboard rocks!!!

It also works with your Mac laptop or desktop right out of the box so you don’t have to install software. With its energy-saving design, the device charges with ambient light in the room, but can operate for up to three months in complete darkness – you’ll never have to hassle with the expense or inconvenience of batteries, power bricks or charging cables again. In addition to eliminating battery waste, its PVC-free construction and fully recyclable box helps minimize its ecological footprint. Mac users, it’s your turn! We want to hear from you about how you’ll use your new solar keyboard and which color is your favorite in the comments. My diNovo Mac Edition was a great keyboard, early failure not withstanding.
Unifying receiver is great. I was able to use one receiver for my mouse and keyboard with no problem.
FishMarketing, Hogs system resources and constantly writes to log files While the app does provide useful information, its overuse of the log files causes high load on the system, sometimes taking up more than 15% of system resources. Every keystroke or event results in a system log entry. While it doesn’t log the actual keystroke (or doesn’t seem to at least), it’s still a huge drain on resources.
So is it possible to catch the light in our house, like a circulating pump in a fountain, and keep re-using it?? John FWIW, mine shipped on the 29th and I received it today. It wasn’t fully-charged (status light next to the frowny face icon), but I’m typing away without any issues at this very moment. It’s very svelte, sleek, and feels fairly solid. The aluminum overlay isn’t quite flush on the left-hand side though; I can see the supporting tabs through the gap. It’s minor, but also a bit disappointing, considering it’s based on the previous K750 for Windows.
